The cornerstone in any good, safe and caring dental office is the element of trust.  We want our patients to be comfortable with our practice environment and that’s why we feel transparency in our office is key. We want to assure our patients and their families that only the highest level of infection control and universal precautions are used by all of our Walt Orthodontics team members.

Dr. Walt and the entire WO team follow procedures recommended by the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) and Canadian Dental Association (CDA). Regardless of whether you are having Invisalign or braces treatment, you can rest assured we take every precaution and follow strict protocols to keep you or your child safe.

These measures include:

  • Disinfectant hand soap
  • Gloves and face masks
  • Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
  • Sterilization of all equipment before every use
  • Disposable materials
infections and safety

Safe orthodontics and infection controls.

Whenever you sit down in one of our chairs for an orthodontic adjustment, note that the instruments we use always come from a sealed bag or wrapped cassette. This is a very important practice to ensure sterility of the instruments – a practice that unfortunately is not common in many orthodontic offices.

After every patient, instruments are soaked in an ultrasonic bath then bagged/wrapped in cassettes and then placed in our Statim or M11 Ultraclave machine, ensuring only the very highest standard of sterilization.  We also run spore testing on our machines guaranteeing all bacteria and viruses are being killed.  Our sterilization centre is open concept – we want you to feel comfortable in our office and know that we not only care about perfecting your smiles, but keeping you healthy and safe in the process!
