At Walt Orthodontics, we offer the most advanced and modern treatment modalities. Orthodontics has evolved from the days of metal bands and metal braces with elastomeric ligatures to self-ligating braces, clear self-ligating braces, Invisalign®, and lingual self-ligating braces.
For lingual self-ligating braces, we are proud to use the Harmony System. The lingual braces are literally invisible front surface and 100% custom. We take a special impression of your teeth and send it to the Harmony lab where a computer creates braces that are completely adapted to the unique surfaces on the backs of your teeth.
There are other great lingual braces systems out there but the added benefit of the Harmony system is that it is self-ligating. This means that there are no elastomeric ligatures holding the wires in the bracket; rather a clip secures the wire in place. Elastomeric ligatures need to be replaced every four weeks since they lose their strength and accumulate a lot of bacteria. Having a clip allows for longer intervals between appointments, and therefore there are less overall appointments. Typically we see our patients in lingual braces every 8-12 weeks.
