Introduction: What is Tooth Recontouring?

Tooth recontouring, also known as dental contouring or enameloplasty, is a quick and painless cosmetic procedure that reshapes your teeth for a more even and balanced smile. At Walt Orthodontics in Vaughan, we understand how even minor adjustments can make a significant impact on your smile’s appearance. Whether you’re smoothing out rough edges or correcting minor overlaps, tooth recontouring can help you achieve the perfect smile.

Why is Tooth Recontouring Done?

Tooth recontouring is performed to correct minor imperfections in the shape, size, or surface of your teeth. Common reasons for tooth recontouring include:

  • Smoothing chips or rough edges: Ideal for teeth that are slightly chipped or worn.

  • Fixing minor overlaps: Helps address small areas of crowding.

  • Evening out tooth length: Makes your smile more symmetrical.

  • Improving bite alignment: Can reduce minor bite issues.

Is Tooth Recontouring Painful?

No, tooth recontouring is typically painless. The procedure only involves removing small amounts of enamel, which does not have nerves. Most patients do not even require anesthesia and experience minimal to no discomfort during the treatment.

Is Tooth Recontouring Safe?

Yes, tooth recontouring is a safe and low-risk procedure when performed by an experienced professional like the team at Walt Orthodontics. Our experts carefully remove only small amounts of enamel to maintain the tooth’s strength and integrity.

How Much Does Tooth Recontouring Cost in Vaughan?

The cost of tooth recontouring varies depending on the number of teeth treated and the complexity of the adjustments. On average, prices can range from $100 to $500 per tooth. At Walt Orthodontics, we typically provide this service at no extra charge when we are completing treatment. That being said, this is different than getting bonding done – this is an additive procedure done by a general dentist.

Benefits of Tooth Recontouring:

  • Quick and Painless: The procedure is typically completed in one visit.

  • Improves Smile Aesthetics: Small adjustments can make a big difference.

  • Affordable Cosmetic Option: Lower cost compared to veneers or crowns.
