Waterpik Flosser. Why You Should Consider One.
There’s been a great deal of controversy recently over the efficacy of flossing. An article posted by the Associated Press and regurgitated by meme culture on Facebook has given un-wary users the impression that flossing is no longer worth while. As discussed on our facebook page, flossing is very much still in and those misleading reports that it is not worth your while should be ignored.
The WaterPik is a tool that you should be using in conjunction with a full oral hygiene program. It should not replace flossing but augment it.
A Waterpik® Water Flosser is an extremely useful oral hygiene tool. It uses a stream of pulsating water to remove food debris and plaque. Many research studies have demonstrated that using a Waterpik® Water Flosser significantly reduces gingivitis and gum disease.
Knowing how difficult it is to maintain good oral hygiene with braces, in 2013 we ran a promotion where all patients who received a full set of braces were given a Waterpik® Water Flosser. This was just one aspect of our comprehensive oral hygiene program at the time, today our current program (check out #WOHEALTHYGRINS) has evolved into many perks and benefits for participating patients.
Remember a beautiful smile is a healthy one, so impeccable oral hygiene is needed during orthodontic treatment. In addition to using the Waterpik® Water Flosser we still recommend that our patients brush their teeth and use traditional dental floss.
